Retrospective 2024: A Year of Impact for our School

In 2024, donors were even more generous than in the previous year, allowing the École normale supérieure to expand its scholarship programs to more students, initiate research chairs on Space and climate change, and restore historical furniture and works in the library.

On the research end of things, three chairs were created this year: the Space Chair, the Ardian Chair on carbon storage in soils, and the MACIF Chair “Climate Change: New Divides, New Mutualization.” Funding from sponsors allows for the recruitment of French and international researchers to conduct cutting-edge research on these relevant themes.

This academic year saw an increase in the number of scholarship recipients thanks to the donations from the supporters of the ENS Foundation: a total of 221 students received a scholarship, either as a supplementary scholarship from CROUS or as a thematic scholarship (such as the Women in STEM Scholarship, math-info scholarship, or Olympic scholarship).

This year was also significant for the historic Library of Letters, which was able to restore its 11 period staircases and rare works from its collections, thanks to donations.

In 2024, the ENS Foundation also maintained strong connections with its supporters and reconnected with many alumni through various social events, such as reunion anniversaries, the donor evening, and new conferences and roundtable discussions highlighting the most current and innovative research conducted at ENS.

2025 promises to be just as rich in meetings and exchanges, in service of the excellence and prominence of the School. We hope to count you among our supporters once again this year.
