AI Summit: ENS to Host the AI and Society Segment

On February 10 and 11, 2025, Paris will host the Summit for Action on Artificial Intelligence, led by Anne Bouverot, Chair of the Board of Directors of ENS-PSL. Bringing together AI experts, heads of state, leaders of pioneering companies in the field, and NGOs advocating for digital ethics, the summit aims to draft a roadmap for the ethical development and global democratic governance of AI. Artificial intelligence indeed presents not only technical challenges but also social and geopolitical ones. Addressing these issues requires the engagement of all disciplines to ensure that AI remains at the service of society as a whole.

To address these interdisciplinary challenges, ENS-PSL has been selected to host events endorsed by the Summit. Conferences and discussions will provide a platform to debate on a responsible AI that serves the public interest.

A Student Assembly to Deliberate on AI

On February 10, the school will host a Student Assembly to debate and deliberate on the democratic and ecological regulation of AI, as well as the principles that should guide the development of AI for the common good. This event will serve as the starting point for an international initiative aimed at consulting citizens on AI-related issues. It will also mark the launch of a new international research network focused on AI and democracy.

A Day of Conferences and Roundtables at ENS

On February 11, 45 rue d’Ulm will host various speakers for interdisciplinary conferences addressing topics such as the educational revolution driven by AI, managing the inherent risks of AI, and the impacts of AI on legal professions.

A Special Evening by Grand Continent

Finally, on the evening of February 11, Grand Continent will host Benoît Cœuré from the Competition Authority and Thomas Philippon, professor at New York University. Their discussion will focus on “The Political Shift in Digital: Monopolies and Democracy.”
