Diversifying international recruitment
École normale supérieure has set up a study program for medallists in the International Mathematical Olympiad. The program consists of identifying International Mathematical Olympiad winners at post-baccalaureate level, with the aim of attracting gold and silver medallists, i.e. students who have demonstrated an exceptional level of scientific knowledge.
For reasons of international competitiveness, these students are immediately offered half a scholarship per year for the first two years at their home university to study mathematics and French. At the end of these two years, they become full-time ENS students with a three-year scholarship, provided that their academic standing at the end of their second year at university meets ENS’s expectations of excellence. Thus, this is a five-year program with a level assessment phase at two years and a 3-year course of study at ENS if the candidate meets the assessment criteria.
Goal:
The aim is to continue the diversification of recruitment by internationalizing it while remaining competitive with top-ranked international institutions.
